Description

Using this meme: mariostrikermurphy.deviantart.… , I decided to make a new series of Top 10s of Best Classic Cartoons Moments. It wasn't too easy decide with which series start, but I choose the one which's maybe the best Nicktoon ever: Hey Arnold!.

Deciding to choose the 10 best moments (episodes) of the Craig Bartlett's masterpiece wasn't too easy, especially because the major part were excellent episodes (only 3 were bad (Money's Bag, New Bully On Block, Arnold Betrays Iggy)). However, I decided to choose 10 of my most favourite episodes ever. This is the list:

#10: The Little Pink Book: Helga's diary, full of poems and shrines about Arnold, is lost and then found by Arnold and Gerald, who take it to Arnold's house to determine whose diary it is. The only place Helga signed her name in the book is on the last page, and she must get it back before Arnold sees her name, even if it means spending the night in Arnold's closet.

#9: Arnold's Christmas: Arnold tries to find Mr. Hyunh's daughter (who was separated from him during the final days of the Vietnam War) as he carries out his duty as Mr. Hyunh's secret Santa. Meanwhile, Helga must choose between a Christmas present for herself (Nancy Spumoni boots) and the perfect gift for Arnold. This is one of the best Christmas animated special episodes ever.

#8: New Teacher: This episode was the introduction of one of my favourite adult characters in the series: Mr. Simmons. Miss Slovak leaves her job because she wants to become a professional golfer, and Mr. Simmons becomes the new teacher. The kids aren't too crazy about his "be your own unique self" teaching method and find a way to get rid of him, then realize things were better with Mr. Simmons than with their new teacher, Lieutenant Major Goose. The replacement makes them realize what they lost. So, the kids decide to make Mr. SImmons return. As an additional data, I have to say you that a scene of this episode scared me XD, and it's when the kids are laughing of Mr. Goose (aside the scene where the kids are insulting to Mr. SImmons).

#7: School Play: I loved this episode because it was a representation of one of my most favourite Rennaisance stories ever: Romeo and Juliet. Mr. Simmons hosts the annual School Play and decides that the kids should do Romeo & Juliet. When Helga hears that Arnold will be Romeo and there will be a kissing scene, she tries to get the part of Juliet, but can only manage to get 4th understudy.

#6: Helga Blabs It All: Maybe the most comical episode ever. While under the influence of anesthesia with laughing gas, Helga leaves a message on Arnold's answering machine confessing her love for him. When she finally comes to, she realizes that she has to get to Arnold's answering machine and delete the message before he can hear it, but the task will prove hard.

#5: What's Opera, Arnold: I liked this episode by the tributes to an art I like the most: the opera. Mr. Packenham takes the 4th grade class on a field trip to see the opera "Carmen", and while Arnold falls asleep and dreams of him and Ruth, Helga dreams of getting rid of Ruth and having "Don Arnold" for herself.

#4: Crush On Teacher: Despite being before the appearence of Mr. Simmons, I liked this so much curious episode. Arnold develops a crush on Miss Felter, a substitute teacher, thinking he is having dinner at her house, only to realize that the one she invited was her fiance, whose name is also Arnold.

#3: Arnold's Thanksgiving: The best festive special episode from this series. Arnold and Helga are sick of their families' Thanksgiving traditions. They meet and go to Mr. Simmons', only to realize that, compared to Thanksgiving with his family, theirs aren't so bad after all.

#2: Parents Day: One of the most sad and emotive episodes ever. Arnold asks Grandpa Phil what really happened with his parents, and he finds out that they disappeared after they left the country on a plane, although they might still be alive.

And now, NUMBER #1!!!
#1: The Journal: Of every Hey Arnold! episodes, this is the best episode ever, especially by being so emotive, and being the finale of these series, despite by being of two parts. In this episode, Arnold finds his father's journal, which tells the story of how his parents met, how they got Abner, his birth, why they went on their "last" trip...and one last surprise. Honestly, I wanted to know more about Arnold finding his parents, which could be the finale of this masterpiece (the 2002 movie wasn't too bad, but it wasn't emotive like this episode)...So, I hope that Mr. Bartlett returns to Nickelodeon and decides to realize this project, for the like of the fans, and some new generations who never knew to the "ball-headed" boy...

What do you think?
